For this week’s pick, we turn our eyes to Finland, to watch a match between KuPS – FC Haka. They have 2 wins, 2 draws, and 2 losses, 7 points in 5 games, with 8 goals scored and 6 conceded. On the 27th of July, we’re going to witness a clash between a team from the top side of Veikkausliiga and a team which is certain to relegate. HJK, who is currently at the 4th place with 25 points is going to host 12th placed VPS. The team from Helsinki has 6 wins, 7 draws and 3 losses. There is a 3-point difference between them and the league leaders Ilves. On the other hand, Vaasan Palloseura have failed to win a single match in 15 rounds. In fact, their losing […]
Portugal vs France In Group 3 of League A, Portugal welcomes France for a clash that could establish the winner of the group. The two teams are perfectly balanced with 10 points each after winning three matches each and a 0 – 0 result when France hosted Portugal in October. Looking at the most recent clash between these two teams, it’s hard to pick a favorite. The balance is extraordinary, with 10 shots and 3 shots on target each. However, looking at the results from the friendly games played earlier […]
Scotland v Poland – 8 October This is a crunch match for Scotland in a group where qualification seemed a distinct possibility for so long only for an unexpected defeat away to Georgia swept the rug from under their feet. However if Scotland can defeat Poland at Hampden and Republic of Ireland fail to beat Germany in Dublin, then there is a very real chance that the Scots would sneak into the third qualifying place in the last round of games thanks to what would be their superior head to […]
With the Polish venues on track in their preparations for co-hosting Euro 2012, the lingering concern for the country’s football fans is whether they will have a national team capable of putting up a respectable performance. Coach Franciszek Smuda has seen his side fall as far as 73rd in FIFA’s admittedly farcical ranking system, with the dearth of playing talent a regular topic for the country’s footballing media. Many wonder what happened to the squad that won the European Under-18 Championship in Finland in 2001. That team included Tomasz Kuszczak, […]
Finland v Holland Finland take on Holland which should technically be a home venue, but is being played on a neutral ground in Germany’s Olympstadion. The Oranje are coming off the best form in their life, and are now undefeated in all 7 games of their campaign and looking to make it 8 in a row tonight with a win over their opponents Finland who are sitting towards the lower half of the table. For Holland, van Persie, Sneijder, Huntelaar and Dirk Kuyt who have been among the form scorers […]
