Sir Alex Ferguson believes that Sunday’s Manchester derby at Old Trafford could ‘make a difference’ in this season’s intriguing Premier League title race.
Manchester United trail Manchester City by two points going into the game, but are 1/1 with bookmaker to win the match and take over at the top of the table. United are 6/5 to go on and retain their league title.
Ahead of the eagerly-awaited derby clash, Ferguson said: “You can only judge it at the end of the season, in terms of the bearing (this has) on the title race.
“Whichever team wins, it will make a difference. But it’s still early doors and we can recover from that, no doubt about that.”
Rio Ferdinand is fit to feature for United, while City boss Roberto Mancini has reported a fully-fit squad, although Carlos Tevez is highly unlikely to feature in the matchday squad against his former club.
bookmaker are offering a free In-Play bet on the Manchester derby for anyone placing a pre-match bet on the Old Trafford Sunday showdown.
