The Scot cruised past the former US Open champion to set up a quarter-final clash with Tomas Berdych.
It was the world number three’s 27th victory in his last 28 matches and, after his latest win, he said about his opponent: “He’s been number one in the world, has been a Grand Slam champion, is one of the best players in the last 10 years and is always difficult to play against.”
The 2011 champion Novak Djokovic is 13/8 to repeat his success next year in Melbourne.
