Andre Villas-Boas believes Chelsea will advance in the Champions League, despite their stoppage-time defeat to Bayer Leverkusen on Wednesday night.
The Blues boss has accepted responsibility for his side’s recent poor run of form, which has seen them lose four of their last seven matches, and they are now 20/1 with bookmaker to go all the way in the Champions League.
Didier Drogba gave Chelsea the lead in Germany but they went on to lose the game 2-1 with Manuel Friedrich heading an injury-time winner for Leverkusen. They now need to win at home or keep a clean sheet against Valencia at Stamford Bridge if they are to progress.
However, Villas-Boas remains confident his side will do enough against the Spanish side to go through.
“It’s a game at home and we expect to do our job,” he said.
“That’s our responsibility and we don’t want to let the fans down. We will need Stamford Bridge completely behind us.”
