Kimi Raikkonen has signed a two-year deal with Lotus Renault GP, returning to Formula One after pursuing a career in rallying since 2009.
The 32-year-old former world champion, who secured the drivers’ title four years ago and won 18 races with Ferrari, had been linked with Williams until recently.
In 2012, Raikkonen will be competing with the likes of Sebastian Vettel, who is 1/1 with bookmaker to make it three titles in a row, and Lewis Hamilton, who can be backed at 5/1 to win next year’s drivers’ championship.
“I’m delighted to be coming back to Formula 1 after a two-year break, and I’m grateful to Lotus Renault GP for offering me this opportunity,” said Raikkonen.
“I can’t deny the fact that my hunger for F1 has recently become overwhelming.”
