Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson may turn to Danny Welbeck to replace the injured Javier Hernandez for this week’s vital Champions League clash in Basel.
Welbeck has not started a game since he suffered a muscle injury on England duty last month, but impressed when he came on for the final 15 minutes in the 1-0 victory at Aston Villa on Saturday.
Ferguson needs to fill the striker void left by the ankle injury Hernandez sustained at Villa Park, which is expected to keep the Mexican on the sidelines for the next month.
Welbeck could lead the line against the Swiss side, in a game United still need a point from to guarantee qualification.
United are 7/1 to win the game 1-0, with Welbeck 5/1 to open the scoring in Switzerland.
