Wayne Rooney will be able to play in England’s Euro 2012 game against Ukraine after having his ban cut from three to two matches.
The 26-year-old Manchester United star was shown a red card in the qualifier against Montenegro after kicking out at Miodrag Dzudovic and was later handed a three-game ban.
Rooney will sit out England’s first two group games against France and Sweden at Euro 2012, a tournament Fabio Capello’s team are 10/1 with bookmaker to win while Spain are 12/5 to retain the trophy they won in Austria and Switzerland in 2008.
A UEFA spokesman confirmed that the ban for the third match will be suspended for four years while Rooney has also agreed to do some coaching in the community.
