Arsenal have been drawn against AC Milan in the last 16 of the Champions League while Premier League rivals Chelsea will take on Napoli.
The two London clubs both face tricky ties if they are to progress. Napoli, 40/1 to win the competition with bookmaker, were impressive in their two group games against Manchester City while AC Milan have been crowned European champions seven times, their most recent triumph coming in the 2006-07 season when they defeated Liverpool in the final.
Arsenal secretary David Miles said of the draw: “It’s probably the pick of the round. They’ll be two fantastic games.
“If I’m being honest, there are some other teams I would have preferred. Last time we played them in 2007-08, we actually went through after winning 2-0 in the San Siro so our recent history against them is good.”
Italy is the best represented country in the last 16 this season with three clubs. Inter Milan, who struggled early on in the season but have been guided to mid-table in Serie A by Claudio Ranieri, have been paired with Marseille.
