Manchester United will take on Ajax in the last 32 of the Europa League while Manchester City have been drawn against holders FC Porto.
Should Sir Alex Ferguson’s side, who are 7/1 to win the Europa League with bookmaker, get past Ajax, they will play Lokomotiv Moscow or Athletic Bilbao in the round of 16. City will face Legia Warsaw or Sporting Lisbon if they defeat FC Porto, who won their domestic title last season.
Stoke City, England’s third representative in the competition, will play Valencia in another exciting clash. The Spanish side won the UEFA Cup in 2003-04 and reached the final of the Champions League in both 1999-2000 and 2000-01. Tony Pulis’ men will take on either Trabzonspor or PSV Eindhoven if they beat Valencia.
Other intriguing pairings see Lazio coming up against Atletico Madrid, AZ Alkmaar taking on Anderlecht and Braga facing Besiktas.
