Belgium international Vincent Kompany has no problem with Manchester City’s hectic fixture schedule.
Roberto Mancini’s side have a difficult trip to Sunderland on New Year’s Day, before facing Liverpool at home on 3rd January.
City are 20/1 with bookmaker to win 4-0 at the Stadium of Light and are 4/5 to win the Premier League title.
Kompany is relishing the prospect of playing eight times in January though, saying: “I love it but I understand the position of the manager.
“It makes sense if he wants to rest and protect his players, but in my case, the more I am in the stadium and less on the training pitch the better it is.
“Whether it is healthy thinking wanting to play all the time – probably not – but I always think that players who get the chance to rest are probably more protected against injuries.”
