Aston Villa boss Alex McLeish has called on the FA to review an alleged elbow from Arsenal’s Robin van Persie in the FA Cup fourth round clash on Sunday.
McLeish believes the Gunners striker elbowed Villa defender Carlos Cuellar during Arsenal’s FA Cup win at the Emirates.
Arsenal, who are 5/1 with bookmaker to win the FA Cup, secured a 3-2 win over Villa despite trailing 2-0 at half-time but McLeish believes Van Persie should have been dismissed for the incident in the 64th minute.
“It was a clear elbow. Would I like the FA to look at it? Yes,” said McLeish. “Look at my nose, it is a result of elbows all my career. It is something which is dangerous.”
Arsenal will be keen to use their cup win as a springboard when they travel to in-form Bolton in the Premier League on Wednesday. The Gunners are 7/10 to take all three points.
