Sunderland forward Stephane Sessegnon hopes that his side can finally overcome Everton when they meet in an FA Cup sixth round replay on Tuesday evening.
The two sides have drawn 1-1 in both of their previous meetings this term, once in the Premier League at the Stadium of Light and also in the original FA Cup clash at Goodison Park earlier this month, with Sunderland 8/11 with bookmaker to reach the last four.
Sessegnon told The Echo: “We’re confident and we’ve got home advantage against Everton, so we’ve got to be positive about getting through.
“Everyone knows it’s a big game and (we) will be determined to get to Wembley.”
The Black Cats have defender Phil Bardsley (illness) and midfield duo Seb Larsson (rested) and Lee Cattermole (suspension) back in contention, but John O’Shea is sidelined by a calf injury.
The Toffees have options after Phil Jagielka and Darron Gibson both made successful returns to the starting line-up in the 2-0 win at Swansea City on Saturday.
