West Indian mystery spinner Sunil Narine admits he still can’t quite believe he is on the verge of a Test debut.
Narine could feature for the tourists, who are 8/1 to win the third Test against England, after being called into their squad due to Kemar Roach’s injury.
The 24-year-old had just arrived home in Trinidad when he was told to fly to the UK and he is hoping to be in the team at Edgbaston next Thursday.
“It all feels like a dream,” he said. “I wasn’t expecting this at all. I came back home and I was starting to look ahead to the limited-overs series.
“When I got the call for the Test series…words can’t explain how I felt at that moment. The dream was always to play Test cricket and I’m halfway there.
“I would like to play in the last Test and try to help West Indies pull one back, but even if I don’t, I won’t be too despondent.”
