Skipper Andrew Strauss is confident that his England team will learn the lessons of their defeat by South Africa at The Oval and hit back in the second Test at Headingley.
The hosts were swept away by an innings and 12 runs by the Proteas in the first match of three, with South Africa now 4/9 with bookmaker to wrap up a series win which would take them to the top of the world Test rankings.
However, Strauss is expecting a big reaction from his colleagues when the action gets underway on Thursday 2nd August, especially from a bowling attack which took just two wickets during the first Test.
A defiant Strauss said: “I think we’ve got an outstanding bowling attack…I’d still back our bowling attack to take 20 wickets on most wickets.
“Those guys will be determined to show more of themselves in the next Test match and I’m sure they will do.”
