Vincent Kompany has warned Manchester City that they must move on mentally from the dramatic nature of last season’s Premier League title victory.
The City captain is hoping a calf strain won’t prevent him from leading out the team in Sunday’s Community Shield against Chelsea, which the champions are 8/1 with bookmaker to win 2-1.
The Belgian recently committed his long-term future to the club and wants them to come out of the blocks early against the European Champions.
The 26-year-old insists: “One of the main things for me is not to keep looking back at the final game of last season for too long. I just want to move on.
“It has been a big story all over the world but it’s about looking forward, this is over now. It is about what lies ahead. I think there is so much great stuff ahead of us.”
