Newcastle United’s new signing Vurnon Anita is looking forward to helping the club challenge for silverware in the coming seasons.
The Dutch international midfielder has agreed a five-year deal with the club, who are 12/1 with bookmaker to finish in the top four of the Premier League this campaign.
The 23-year-old joins from Ajax, where he progressed through the youth set-up to become an integral part of the side that won back-to-back Eredivisie titles in 2010/11 and 2011/12.
Anita is relishing the chance to test himself in the Premier League after hearing positive things about the club from compatriot Tim Krul.
He told Newcastle’s official website: “I won almost everything in Holland so the decision was not difficult to make. Now I think we can also win trophies with Newcastle and it’s time to do that.”
