The main sports arena in Ukraine, which will host the finals of the Euro 2012 soccer tournament, now has a logo. Soccer fans could enter a contest to have their logo chosen to represent the tourney. The winner is designer and soccer fan Sergey Melnik, who lives in Dubai. The logo is supposed to represent the inside of the stadium. Special law is ready. It will come into force for the time of Euro 2012. It assumes that it is allowed to sell beer at stadiums. This means that the ban introduced in 2009 will not be effective during the tournament. However, there will be exceptions… At stadiums one can buy light beer (up to 4.5 percent alcohol). A new report from a Warsaw based anti-racism group documents the number of racist and discriminatory incidents in the host countries for the 2012 European Championships. The report called ‘Hateful’ has been produced by the ‘NEVER AGAIN’ Association in cooperation with Football Against Prejudices (Ukraine), as part of the FARE network Eastern European Monitoring Centre. On 1 March online registration of tickets for Euro 2012 has begun and on the same day the UEFA will announce prices, stages concerning the pre-sale of tickets and time of their implementation. Tickets are sold exclusively one the Internet. Not all seats will be available. Most tickets have been reserved for VIPs and members of football associations. Tickets for Euro 2012 matches in Ukraine and Poland playedfrom June 8 until July 1 will cost from 30 to 600 euros. “The purchasing power of local citizens was taken into account when setting prices, and the cheapest tickets will cost 50% less than at UEFA’s Euro 2008 [event] in Austria and Switzerland.
