Somerset captain Marcus Trescothick has backed young batsman Jos Buttler to be a big hit for England.
The hard-hitting 21-year-old is one of a number of rising stars included in the England squad for the two Twenty20 internationals against the West Indies later this week. England can be backed at 2/5 with bookmaker to win the first game at The Oval on Friday evening.
The squad, which will be skippered by Graeme Swann, includes the likes of batsmen Alex Hales and Ben Stokes and spinners Scott Borthwick and Danny Briggs. Jonny Bairstow, who was England’s matchwinner in the fifth ODI against India, is also included.
Trescothick, who saw Buttler make an outstanding 86 in the Clydesdale Bank 40 final defeat to Surrey, said: “We’ve seen enough great times of Jos over the last couple of years to justify him being in the international team.
“If he can continue to play like that and gets the opportunity to play in international games, England supporters are going to see some good performances, because he is a serious player.”
