Recalled batsman Umar Akmal has vowed to be positive in Pakistan’s upcoming three-match Test series against England in the UAE.
England arrive as the top-ranked Test side in the world and are 20/21 with bookmaker to win the series.
Akmal is desperate to make the most of his recall after being left out of the recent series against Sri Lanka and Bangladesh.
He said: “It’s very disappointing when you are axed and especially from the Test squad. Test cricket is the supreme form of the game and it is where I want to perform the best.
“What I was asked to do was to develop the temperament to stay at the wicket and told that the runs would then automatically come.”
21-year-old Akmal featured against England in the controversial 2010 Test series in England, passing 50 just once in eight innings.
