Stuart Broad could be forced to sit out England’s first Test against Sri Lanka later this month because of a troublesome ankle problem.
Broad missed England’s warm-up game against a Sri Lanka Board XI, which they won by an innings and 15 runs, and is a doubt for the first Test in Galle, which starts on Monday 26th March. England are 11/8 with bookmaker to win the two-Test series and can be backed at 11/4 to triumph 1-0.
Team director Andy Flower confirmed: “He turned his ankle just before the last game started after being down to play. After he’s had a bowl we’ll decide whether we are going to play him against the Sri Lanka Development XI (which starts on Tuesday).”
Should Broad miss out, Steve Finn and Tim Bresnan would be favourites to take his place.
