Alastair Cook has admitted that England’s batsmen need to show their true qualities when they face Pakistan in the second Test at the Sheikh Zayed Cricket Stadium.
England were bowled out for under 200 twice as they crumbled to a ten-wicket defeat in last week’s first Test and are 9/4 with bookmaker to level the three-match series at 1-1, while the draw is available at 13/10.
Cook said: “It’s always nice when you turn up to a ground where history suggests you can score runs. But that doesn’t really count for anything. We’ve got to go out and put our poor performance behind us.
“We held our hands up as a batting unit, that the reason we didn’t get close in that last match was the top six.”
