India captain MS Dhoni has warned his side that they must improve their batting if they are to bounce back from a heavy first Test defeat to Australia in Melbourne.
The tourists have never won a series on Australian soil and are now 6/1 with bookmaker to emerge victorious from the four-match Test series. They lost out by 122 runs at the MCG, and were dismissed for 282 and 169.
“I think our batting line-up flopped in both their innings,” said Dhoni after his side’s fourth day collapse.
“I felt 290-odd runs was also a score we should have achieved. The wicket was pretty good. It’s not like there was too much wear and tear in the wicket.”
India need to regroup quickly before the second Test gets underway at the Sydney Cricket Ground on Tuesday 3rd January.
