England discard Eoin Morgan has been given hope of a Test match future by team director Andy Flower.
Morgan has been omitted from the squad for the two Test matches in Sri Lanka at the end of March and the beginning of April, with one of Ravi Bopara or Samit Patel likely to take his place in the middle order.
The left-hander has passed 50 just twice in his last 12 Test innings, although he is likely to remain a key member of the England set-up in the shorter forms of the game, with England 7/2 with bookmaker to retain their World Twenty20 title in Sri Lanka later this year.
Flower said: “I still think he has a very exciting future in Test cricket. He’s only 25 years old and he’s a very talented player, a very confident player and a very dangerous player.
“He has got to go away and give some serious thought to his method in Test cricket.”
