England captain Andrew Strauss has warned his team not to let up after they reached the number one spot in the ICC’s Test rankings.
A 4-0 whitewash of India has left Strauss’ men at the summit, above South Africa and the well-beaten tourists, but the England skipper is preparing for more hard work in the not-too-distant future.
He said: “The greatest pitfall is that feeling that you’ve done it all, therefore you’re not willing to put in the hard work. I’d be very disappointed if we fell into that trap.”
Strauss will be able to take a break as fellow opener Alastair Cook leads England in their five-match one-day series against India, with the hosts 4/5 with bookmaker to come out on top again.
India are 1/1 to take the ODI honours, having won the 50-over World Cup earlier this year on home soil.
