Surrey have confirmed that England star Kevin Pietersen will remain with them for the rest of his international career.
The 31-year-old joined Surrey, who are 7/1 with bookmaker to win the ECB 40 League, on loan initially in 2010 from Hampshire, and agreed a one-year deal for last season.
The South Africa-born player’s England central contract is renewed annually, meaning there is always some uncertainty over how long he will stay at The Oval. However, his new deal confirms Pietersen will remain tied to the club for the time he remains an international player.
“England batsman Kevin Pietersen has extended his contract with Surrey County Cricket Club until the end of his central contract with England,” Surrey said in a statement.
Pietersen added: “Surrey is a fantastic club and I have been really impressed with the environment and work ethic in place.
“Their recent success is well deserved and I look forward to working with them in 2012.”
