England captain Andrew Strauss is determined to end a run of more than a year without a Test century in the upcoming series against Pakistan.
Strauss, who is 4/1 with bookmaker to be his side’s leading batsman in the series, has not registered a century in his last 15 Test innings and hopes to end that run in the UAE.
“Last summer I probably didn’t play quite as well as I’d have liked to, but form ebbs and flows a bit in Test cricket. I’m very keen to perform well and lead from the front,” Strauss told reporters.
“You can analyse these things to death, the truth is I’ve had a really good break, I’m healthy, I’m motivated. Hopefully that’s a pretty good recipe to play well.”
The three-match series starts in Dubai on Tuesday 17th January, with the tourists 20/21 to take the honours and ensure that they remain the number one ranked Test side in the world.
