Andrew Strauss has dismissed talk of relinquishing the England captaincy, focusing instead on helping his side win the final Test against Sri Lanka.
England, who are 15/8 with bookmaker to win the second Test, are on an unwanted run of four Test defeats in a row. Strauss’s position has come under increased scrutiny following some mediocre batting, but he insists he and the rest of the England side can turn things around.
“If you retain faith, it will turn round, especially if you have players of real quality, which I know we do have,” said the England skipper.
“I’m very confident we’ve got the ability and skill to do that and that’s going to be our challenge over the next five days.
“The pressure is no more than normal.”
