Spurs manager Andre Villas-Boas has told new signing Hugo Lloris he faces a battle to oust Brad Friedel from the team.
The 41-year-old was in outstanding form for Spurs, who are 7/2 with bookmaker to finish in the top four this season, against Norwich on Saturday.
The veteran ensured his side came away with a point from the match after going down to 10 men and despite the signing of the £12million France international stopper, it seems unlikely Friedel will be replaced just yet.
Villas-Boas said: “When you transfer it’s not written into your contract that you have to play. He has to compete against three very good goalkeepers and at the moment Brad is doing extremely well.
“He deserves to be playing and he’ll continue to do so.”
