Football – Cotterill sacked by Forest

Nottingham Forest are on the hunt for a new manager after announcing Steve Cotterill has left the club just nine months after being appointed.

The Championship outfit, who are 11/4 with bookmaker to be promoted in the 2012-13 season, were taken over by the Kuwaiti-based Al-Hasawi family on Tuesday.
The new regime have immediately begun to implement their plans for the club, informing Cotterill of their decision during a meeting on Wednesday.
“Nottingham Forest can confirm that manager Steve Cotterill has departed the club with immediate effect,” read a statement on the club’s official website.
“Mr Cotterill met with the club’s new owners, the Al-Hasawi family, yesterday and, after long deliberations, they have decided to make a new appointment in a bid to deliver their long-term vision.
“The club would like to acknowledge their gratitude to Mr Cotterill for guiding it through an extremely difficult and traumatic period and for retaining the side’s Championship status last season.”
