Manchester City’s Joleon Lescott is staying focused on maintaining his side’s title challenge, despite the possibility he could help relegate his former club Wolves this weekend.
City need to beat the league’s bottom side in order to keep the pressure on Manchester United and are 13/2 with bookmaker to record a 3-0 victory over Terry Connor’s men.
Lescott came through the Wolves ranks and is fondly remembered by the Molineux faithful, but will not allow sentiment to distract him from the task at hand.
The England defender said: “After the defeat in the Arsenal game, people were doubting whether we could win the last six, but with no disrespect to them, we swept aside West Brom and Norwich.
“We know that Wolves will be another tough game, but our confidence is as high as it has been at any stage this season and we know we can beat any team. We still need other teams to do us a favour in terms of taking points off United but we know we can do our job, which is to win all of our games.”
