Roberto Mancini insists the race for the title is over, despite seeing the gap between his side and league leaders Manchester United narrow to five points with five games to go.
City are now 9/2 with bookmaker to win the league after seeing off West Brom 4-0 on Wednesday night, at the same time as United were going down 1-0 to Wigan.
City’s title bid had been written off at the weekend after United had opened up an eight-point gap, but some are suggesting it could be back on with the Manchester derby at the Etihad still to come.
“No, it’s finished,” Mancini said when asked if his side were in with a chance of winning the league.
“It’s important that we are now mathematically in a better position.
“Manchester United is a fantastic team, they have fantastic experience and I think they will win this title.”
