Roberto Mancini is targeting success on both the domestic and European fronts after dumping Porto out of the Europa League on Wednesday evening.
The Manchester City manager, whose side are 11/4 with bookmaker to win the Europa League, admitted the double would be “difficult”. However, he is determined his team will try their best to go all the way in Europe as well as preserve their lead at the top of the Premier League.
Mancini’s side made smooth progress into the next stage of the Europa League with a 4-0 home victory over defending champions Porto, resulting in a 6-1 aggregate win.
“We want to try to go to the final if possible but it will be difficult because the Europa League has top squads – Manchester United, Valencia, Schalke – it is like the Champions League,” said the Italian.
“For this reason it will be difficult but we want to try.”
