John Obi Mikel says Chelsea must focus solely on trying to get the better of FA Cup final opponents Liverpool on Saturday at Wembley.
The Blues, who are 4/6 with bookmaker to lift the coveted trophy for the fourth time in six years, look set to miss out on a top-four place in the Premier League.
A 2-0 defeat at home to Newcastle on Wednesday was not the ideal preparation for the final and the upcoming Champions League final against Bayern Munich could prove to be a distraction.
However, Blues midfielder Mikel thinks Roberto Di Matteo’s side must now only have eyes for Liverpool.
“We have to make sure we win the FA Cup final on Saturday and make sure that we don’t let it go past us,” he told the Evening Standard.
“We have been doing really well lately, but this (Newcastle) is one game where we were below-par. We didn’t play as per usual. We now have a cup final on Saturday, so we should look forward to that.”
