Wayne Rooney insists England can surprise everyone and win Euro 2012, despite low expectations heading into the tournament.
England, who are 14/1 with bookmaker to triumph on 1st July, head into the European Championships with a new boss and without a long list of injured players.
However, Rooney, who is suspended for the first two group games, believes Roy Hodgson has what it takes to make the most of the available players and doesn’t see any reason why England can’t go all the way.
“We are trying and no-one should even think we are just turning up,” said the Manchester United striker.
“Sometimes when you lose, you have to hold your hands up.
“But when you look at our squad, I don’t see why we can’t win it. There have been a lot of changes but I will expect big things.”
