Aston Villa have suffered a double injury setback with the new Premier League season just over a fortnight away.
Villa, who are 13/2 with bookmaker to be relegated next season, will be without Gabriel Agbonlahor and Richard Dunne for the first few weeks of the campaign.
Striker Agbonlahor will be out of action for up to five weeks with medial ligament damage sustained in the pre-season tour of America, while defender Dunne could miss up to two months with a groin problem picked up during the summer’s European Championships.
The club confirmed: “Gabby Agbonlahor will be sidelined for a further four-five weeks with the injury to his left knee, sustained against Chicago Fire.
“This is after the scan confirmed medial ligament damage.
“Meanwhile, Richard Dunne will also be out of action for six-eight weeks, having undergone a procedure on a groin injury which he sustained and was not dealt with during the European Championships.”
