Ross Brawn admits Mercedes have much work to do following the team’s disappointing performance in Hungary at the weekend.
Mercedes are now 150/1 with bookmaker to win the Constructors’ Championship after winning a single point on Sunday. Nico Rosberg managed to finish 10th despite not making the top 10 in qualifying but Michael Schumacher was forced to retire during an error-strewn race.
Team principal Brawn concedes they must improve significantly when the season resumes in Belgium after the summer break.
“Nico did a good job today, and 10th place is about where the car was, if not a little better. He drove very well to make the tyres last which is a positive sign, and a good strategy saw him pick up places,” he said.
“We are clearly not as competitive as we want to be and, whilst we got everything out of the car today, we need to find more performance and lap time.”
