McLaren’s Lewis Hamilton, 11/4 with bookmaker to be crowned world champion, is upbeat about his chances of securing a second world title in 2012.
Hamilton opened the new campaign with a third-place finish in the Australian Grand Prix in Melbourne, with McLaren team-mate Jenson Button winning the race ahead of two-time defending world champion Sebastian Vettel.
However, Hamilton is full of confidence heading to next weekend’s Malaysian Grand Prix at Sepang, having laid down a fine marker in Australia after a disappointing 2011 season.
“I know this is a car I can definitely challenge for the title with,” the confident Englishman said.
“For us to start at the front is a pretty good way forward. As for me, I definitely do feel as though I’ve got it in myself to go for the title.”
Hamilton is 9/4 to back up his good work in Melbourne with a victory in Malaysia, with Button 5/2 to make it two wins out of two.
