Lewis Hamilton says he is fully focused on this year’s Formula 1 championship amid speculation over where his future lies.
The 27-year-old, who is 7/2 with bookmaker to win Sunday’s Canadian Grand Prix, stated at the start of the season he wanted his contract situation resolved “sooner rather than later”, with his current McLaren deal set to expire in seven months.
However, the Briton now insists he is solely concentrating on improving his performances this season.
“I haven’t even discussed anything,” he said.
“I underestimated how difficult the season would be, how busy I would be, and I have also realised how unimportant it is at the moment.
“The championship is more important than what I plan to do, what my next contract will be.”
