Retief Goosen is adamant a broken toe will not end his hopes of FedEx Cup play-off glory.
The two-time US Open champion can be backed at 80/1 with bookmaker to win the Barclays Classic and will take his place despite suffering a freak boating accident in the driveway of his home in Florida.
The South African was moving his boat inside his garage ahead of the imminent arrival of Hurricane Irene, only for the front wheel of the trailer to run over his right foot and fracture his big toe.
But Goosen is determined the injury will not prevent him making the cut he needs to progress further in the FedEx play-offs.
He said: “It went blue instantly. I had X-rays and they said it was a fracture. But I don’t think it is. It’s not as sore as it should be. But all the other toes are getting sore now because I’m walking funny.”
