Paul Casey is unperturbed with his poor form as he continues his preparations for next week’s Open Championship at Royal Lytham and St Annes by playing in the Scottish Open.
The 34-year-old, who injured his shoulder while snowboarding and missed the first ten weeks of the season, is 200/1 with bookmaker to win the Scottish Open and 150/1 to emerge victorious at The Open.
Casey has struggled to regain his best form since returning to action and reached a new low last week when he fired consecutive rounds of 80 at last week’s French Open.
He is now 72nd in the world rankings, but said: “The shoulder’s absolutely fine and I feel good physically and mentally, but I just wasn’t hitting it the way I wanted to last week.
“This is an opportunity. For a long time I was just on auto-pilot, but now I’m doing a lot of learning about my swing. I’m also being incredibly thorough and not leaving any stone unturned.”
