Padraig Harrington is not surprised that he has been left out of Jose Maria Olazabal’s Ryder Cup team.
Olazabal has included wildcards Ian Poulter and Nicolas Colsaerts in his Europe team that will be aiming to retain the Ryder Cup in Medinah between 28th and 30th September.
Harrington had been in contention for one of the wildcard picks but accepts that he did not deserve his place in the team.
He said: “Even the dogs in the street knew I wasn’t getting a pick, so it wasn’t a tough phone call for me to take in any way whatsoever.
“If you don’t make it into the team automatically, you can’t have any regrets. You can’t second-guess not getting a pick if you don’t make it on merit.”
Europe, who have won four of the last five Ryder Cups, are 11/8 with bookmaker to win the tournament, while the USA can be backed at 8/11.
