Rory McIlroy is being hampered by a virus as he bids to deny world number one Luke Donald of the Race to Dubai title.
For McIlroy to beat Donald to the title, he needs to win and the Englishman must finish outside the top ten in the season-ending Dubai World Championship, which the Northern Irishman is 5/1 with bookmaker to win.
However, McIlroy has been feeling below-par in recent days, despite winning the Hong Kong Open last weekend.
“I’ll really try and conserve my energy and focus it all into the four tournament days,” McIlroy said.
“I’ve still got a slim chance of trying to win the Race to Dubai. It’s going to be a tough ask, but I’ll give my best and it would be great to finish the year on a high.”
