Dustin Johnson is aiming for a strong showing as he attempts to defend his Barclays title this week as he is hoping success will lead to a Ryder Cup call-up.
Johnson, who is 25/1 with bookmaker to win the opening event of the FedEx play-offs, faces a challenging task over the next few days as he and a world class field take on the Bethpage Black Course in New York.
The American, who will line up with Rory McIlroy, Luke Donald and Tiger Woods amongst others, is excited by the challenge ahead as he aims to press his claim to be selected as one of Davis Love’s four wildcard choices for the Ryder Cup.
He said: “I play well at this time of the year usually, so I enjoy the FedEx Cup. I like the play-offs. This is time where you really need to play well. I’ve had a lot of success the last few years in the play-offs, and hopefully I can continue that this year.
“It’s at a totally different golf course than it was last year. It’s going to play tough. The rough is pretty thick, and the fairways are pretty narrow, just like they were in the US Open. It’s going to be a good test of golf.”
