Graeme McDowell expects Europe to face a massive task as they try to retain the Ryder Cup on American soil later this month.
McDowell and co, who are 7/5 with bookmaker to win in Medinah, have a strong line-up of their own, but McDowell has praised the USA team after captain Davis Love III was able to leave the likes of Hunter Mahan, Rickie Fowler and Nick Watney out of his line-up.
McDowell said: “It speaks volumes about the American team that Hunter Mahan wins twice this year and does not get on that team. It speaks volumes about how strong they are.
“I think Davis Love could have tossed the names up in the air and taken any four and had a good team.
“They are both very good teams and it’s going to be very competitive and tight and will go down to the last few games. I’m excited.”
