Six-time Major winner Sir Nick Faldo is confident that Rory McIlroy will complete a Grand Slam of Major wins in the future.
McIlroy, still only 23, stormed to an eight-shot victory at the USPGA Championship, adding a second Major to the US Open title he won last year, and Faldo is expecting more success in the near future.
With McIlroy having joined an elite group of players alongside Jack Nicklaus, Tiger Woods and the late Seve Ballesteros, Faldo told the Irish Times: “Jack, Seve, Tiger, Rory are the only players to win multiple Majors under 25, that puts you in a special line, doesn’t it?
“He has a different ability, better than the average bear.”
McIlroy still has the Masters and The Open Championship to win to complete the set, having suffered a final-day meltdown at Augusta in 2011, throwing away a four-shot lead taken into the final round.
The Northern Irishman is 6/1 with bookmaker to win the 2013 Masters and move closer to completing Faldo’s predicted Grand Slam.
