Golf – Scott refuses to dwell on late collapse

Adam Scott says he will not be dwelling on his final day collapse at the Open and will instead take heart from the positives in his performance.

The Australian, who is 25/1 with bookmaker to win next year’s US Masters, handed Ernie Els a second Open Championship crown after a dramatic meltdown in the last round on Sunday.
Scott held a four-shot lead on the 15th but bogeyed his final four holes, while Els’ birdie on the final hole enabled him to claim the title.
“I know I’ve let a really great chance slip through my fingers today,” admitted Scott.
“I don’t think I’ve ever played this well in a major championship, so that’s a good thing for me moving forward.
“All the stuff I’m doing is going in the right direction. Today is one of those days and that’s why they call it golf. I’m a positive guy. I’m optimistic and I want to take all the good stuff that I did this week and use that for the next time I’m out on the course.”
