Tiger Woods is hitting form at exactly the right time as his preparations for the US Open continued with victory at the Memorial Tournament in Ohio.
It was Woods’ fifth success in the tournament and his second victory of the year.
He fired a 67 on Sunday to end on nine-under-par, two shots clear of Andres Romero and Rory Sabbatini, and is now 6/1 with bookmaker to win the US Open.
Woods was four shots behind leader Spencer Levin at the start of the day but birdied four of the first seven holes, while a superb second shot at the 16th ultimately proved decisive.
“Boy, I hit it good,” Woods said of that shot. “I never really missed a shot, I had the pace of the greens really nice and made a few putts.”
Rickie Fowler, who fell away at the Memorial Tournament on the final day, can be backed at 28/1 to win the US Open.
