Open champion Ernie Els believes a lack of practice will not be a problem as he bids to win the upcoming Canadian Open.
Els, who is 22/1 with bookmaker to be victorious this weekend, is looking for back-to-back titles following his extraordinary victory at Royal Lytham & St Annes.
The Open triumph meant Els arrived later than planned in Canada and he has managed just five practice holes, but he insists this will not affect his challenge.
The 42-year-old told reporters on Wednesday: “I feel very fresh. I’ve been trying to be just low key about it.
“I haven’t prepared on the golf course the way maybe that I wanted to. So I went through the yardage. I saw a couple of holes yesterday. I’ll be fresh and ready to go tomorrow, so I’ll be competing at 100 per cent tomorrow.”
