Open champion Ernie Els believes a lack of practice will not be a problem as he bids to win the upcoming Canadian Open.
Els, who is 22/1 with bookmaker to be victorious this weekend, is looking for back-to-back titles following his extraordinary victory at Royal Lytham St Annes.
The Open triumph meant Els arrived later than planned in Canada and he has managed just five practice holes, but he insists this will not affect his challenge.
The 42-year-old told reporters: “I feel very fresh. I’ve been trying to be just low key about it.
“I haven’t prepared on the golf course the way maybe that I wanted to. So I went through the yardage. I saw a couple of holes yesterday. I’ll be fresh and ready to go tomorrow, so I’ll be competing at 100 per cent tomorrow.”
