Louis Smith is confident that Team GB’s men’s gymnastics team can go for gold in Rio in four years’ time, having taken a bronze on home soil in London.
Smith, along with Sam Oldham, Kristian Thomas, Max Whitlock and Dan Purvis, helped GB to a first team medal in a century and the 23-year-old believes that the future is bright.
A delighted Smith said: “Now everyone will be more motivated than ever. It’s a beautiful day for the sport and for British gymnastics.
“The beauty about what we’ve got is that this team isn’t just a one-hit wonder. Two of these guys are 19 years old, not even at their peak yet, with Rio 2016 coming up.”
Smith won an individual bronze medal on the pommel horse four years ago in Beijing and is 1/1 with bookmaker to make it gold in London in Sunday’s final.
